Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn

Imām Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (1347–1421 AH / 1929–2001 CE) was born in ʿUnayzah, in the Qaṣīm region, on the night of the 27th of Ramaḍān. He memorised the Qurʾān young and studied under scholars of his town, most notably Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Saʿdī, whose approach to teaching left a lasting mark on him.

For decades he taught at the Grand Mosque of ʿUnayzah and at the college of the Imam Muḥammad ibn Saud Islamic University, and he served as a member of the Council of Senior Scholars. He was cherished by students the world over for the ease and clarity with which he explained difficult matters, and he left behind a large body of works and recorded lessons spanning creed, fiqh, and tafsīr.
