Who We Are

We believe it is important to know whom you take knowledge from, especially the knowledge of your religion. Imām Muḥammad Ibn Sīrīn (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

إِنَّ هَٰذَا الْعِلْمَ دِينٌ، فَانْظُرُوا عَمَّنْ تَأْخُذُونَ دِينَكُمْ.

"Indeed, this knowledge is religion, so look at whom you take your religion from."

We are from Ahl as-Sunnah wa-l-Jamāʿah and the people of Salafiyyah. We follow the Book and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf as-Ṣāliḥ. What follows is a short statement of our ʿaqīdah and manhaj, bi-idhnillāh.

Īmān

We hold that īmān is belief in the heart, affirmation on the tongue, and action of the limbs. It increases with obedience and decreases with sin. Whoever claims belief in his heart but abandons action altogether is not a believer, and whoever performs the outward actions without belief in his heart is not among the believers.

Allah above His Throne

We affirm that Allah, in His Essence, is above the Throne (al-ʿArsh), and that He descends to the lowest heaven in the last part of the night in a manner befitting His Majesty. We do not liken Him to His creation or claim any resemblance to Him. This is where we differ from the Jahmiyyah: we affirm that Allah is above His Throne, while they deny it. Whoever denies that Allah is above the Throne is not a believer but a disbeliever.

His Names and Attributes

We affirm all of Allah's Names and Attributes as they came in the revelation. We do not distort them, deny them, reinterpret them, strip them of their meanings, or liken them to the attributes of creation. We regard the ways of the Jahmiyyah, Muʿtazilah, Ashāʿirah, and Māturīdiyyah in this as misguidance. We also hold that the khabar al-wāḥid (a report that does not reach the level of tawātur) is a proof in matters of creed and in everything else.

Al-Qadar

We believe that everything, whether good or bad, happens by the decree of Allah. We affirm the four levels of al-qadar. Human beings have a real will of their own, but it falls under the Will of Allah.

• Knowledge (ʿilm): Allah knows everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen, and He knows what would have happened had things gone otherwise.
• Writing (kitābah): Allah has written all things in al-Lawḥ al-Maḥfūẓ, the Preserved Tablet.
• Will (mashīʾah): Nothing happens in the heavens or the earth, good or bad, except by His Will. Nothing falls outside of it.
• Creation (khalq): Allah is the Creator of all things, including what we perceive as good and bad.

Obedience to the Muslim ruler

We hold that obeying the Muslim ruler is obligatory in everything that is lawful. We pray behind the righteous and the sinful among the Muslim rulers, and we hold that rising against a Muslim ruler is forbidden even when he is unjust. But if a ruler commands disobedience to Allah or His Messenger ﷺ, he is not to be obeyed in that.

The people of innovation

We hold that it is important to boycott the people of desires and innovation, to keep away from them, and not to sit with them, following the principles the Salaf laid down. We adhere to the ʿaqīdah and manhaj set out by Imām Aḥmad in Uṣūl as-Sunnah and by Imām al-Barbahārī in Sharḥ as-Sunnah.
